Was Karl Marx always wrong?

Professor Douglas McWilliam’s third Gresham lecture 2013-14

In tonight’s lecture, Gresham College Professor of Commerce and Executive Chairman of Cebr, Douglas McWilliams, looks at the impact of globalisation the distribution of labour incomes and profits.

It points out that the multiplication of the world’s labour supply has tilted the balance in favour of the capitalist. It examines this in the context of Karl Marx’s labour theory of value and looks at whether the Marxist solutions would be better or worse than the problem that has been identified.

For further information and a copy of the lecture, please see the PDF below. Douglas’ next lecture will take place at 18:00 on Wednesday 15th January at the Museum of London.

All are warmly welcome – if you plan to come, please email conferences@cebr.com.

Seating at the Museum of London is “first come, first served”, so please feel free to arrive early to ensure that you get a seat.

Doors open half an hour before the lecture.
